            Summary: LegalBrief records audio solely for transcription purposes. Audio is processed and immediately deleted from our servers. We do not store, share, or sell your audio recordings or personal data.
        

1. Information We Collect

Audio Recordings: The app uses your device microphone (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO) to record voice dictation. Recordings are stored locally on your device in encrypted storage.

Device Information: We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or any personally identifiable information.

No Account Required: LegalBrief does not require user registration, login, or any personal information to use.

2. How We Use Audio Data

Audio recordings are sent to our server only when you explicitly tap the "Transcribe" button.
Audio is forwarded to the Bhashini ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) service by the Government of India for speech-to-text conversion.
Audio files are immediately deleted from our server after transcription is complete.
We do not retain, store, or archive any audio data on our servers.

3. Microphone Permission

The RECORD_AUDIO permission is required for the core functionality of this app — recording voice dictation for legal professionals. The microphone is only activated when you explicitly start a recording session by tapping the record button. The app does not record audio in the background without your knowledge.

4. Data Storage

Local Storage: All recordings, transcriptions, and app data are stored locally on your device using encrypted database storage (SQLCipher).
Server Storage: Our server does not permanently store any user data. Audio is processed in memory and deleted immediately.
No Cloud Backup: Your data is not automatically backed up to any cloud service.

5. Third-Party Services

Bhashini ASR (Government of India): Audio data is sent to the Bhashini speech recognition service for transcription. Bhashini is operated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Their data handling is governed by Government of India policies.

6. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your data with any third parties for commercial purposes. Audio data is only shared with the Bhashini ASR service for the sole purpose of transcription.

7. Data Security

Local database is encrypted using SQLCipher with AES-256 encryption.
All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
API keys and sensitive credentials are stored server-side only.

8. Your Rights

In accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) of India:

You can delete any recording or transcription from the app at any time.
You can clear all app data from your device settings.
You have full control over when the microphone is used.
No data is retained on our servers, so there is no server-side data to request deletion of.

9. Children\'s Privacy

LegalBrief is designed for legal professionals and is not intended for use by children under 18 years of age.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
